Bell Internet Talk 9-1-1 limitations

Important limitations on 9-1-1 service when dialled using Bell Internet Talk.

  • Your 9-1-1 emergency call will not be automatically routed to a 9-1-1 response centre and your location information and phone number will not be automatically delivered to the 9-1-1 response centre.
  • Your 9-1-1 emergency call will go to an Operator; you must provide your location (address) to the Operator who will then route your call to the 9-1-1 response centre that serves the location you have provided.
  • The Operator will not know where you are calling from unless you provide accurate location information (address) when asked.
  • The Operator will not be able to complete your 9-1-1 emergency call if you call from outside Canada or from a location within Canada not serviced by 9-1-1.
  • 9-1-1 emergency calls from a Bell Internet Talk service will take longer to be connected to the correct 9-1-1 response centre than calls made from a traditional wireline phone.
  • Your Bell Internet Talk service is subject to your Internet and/or network availability which may be affected by power outages or other interruptions in service.
  • Whenever possible, use a traditional wireline phone for 9-1-1 emergency calls.
  • When making a 9-1-1 call, do not hang up until told by the Operator to do so, and call back if you are disconnected.
  • Make sure that you and any users of your Bell Internet Talk service are familiar with the nature and limitations of 9-1-1 type calling on the service.
